MEET SCOTT

Scott is a dad, husband, small business owner, and proud Democrat.

Scott and his wife Dara were born in the same hospital and grew up in adjacent towns in New Jersey but didn’t meet until they were sophomores at the University of Maryland. Partners for over 20 years, they are the proud parents of a daughter and son, living in Silver Spring with their 2 cats, Peaches & Dragon Fruit.

At the age of 24 with only a laptop and a coffee table, Scott started a company to care for the homes of Foreign Service Officers and members of the US military serving our country overseas. To fund this startup, he waited tables at the Austin Grill. The company eventually grew to nearly 20 people, managing over 1,000 properties in Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia.

One day, Scott’s son came home and said his class spent the day in other classrooms because his teacher was sick and there was no substitute. Immediately, Scott signed up to be a substitute teacher to help with the over 80,000 unfulfilled sub requests in MCPS each year. You can find him in classrooms at elementary, middle and high schools throughout the county and is a member of the Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA), the union that represents our public school teachers.

While building a small business Scott went to and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law. He represents clients professionally but is most enthusiastic and proud to represent tenants pro bono during eviction cases in District Court.

Democratic values only become a reality when Democrats win. Scott started as a precinct official organizing the Summit Hills Apartments. He was appointed to the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee and then elected Chair by his peers. In 2018, under Scott's leadership as Party Chair every single state and county Democratic candidate earned more than double the number of votes as their Republican competitors; a record that stands to this day. He’s worked on a bunch of local campaigns, including helping Jamie Raskin setup his first run for Congress and was the campaign manager for County Executive Ike Leggett’s re-election victory in 2014.

Scott is ready to be a Councilmember on minute 1 of day 1. He brings a unique and deep level of experience from being active in the community:
